Love this framework - we’re constantly programming our brains without realising it.
Something I might add is daily movement or walking. As a doctor, there’s so much evidence now showing how good daily exercise is protecting against cognitive decline.
I’ve heard before that people seek content (movies, tv shows, songs) that mirror the trauma they’ve experienced before. While it can be cathartic, based on your article, it may also be detrimental to our brain. How would you reconcile both and do you think that is true?
Yes, people often seek out content that recreates familiar emotional states, even if they’re distressing. It usually reinforces nervous system dysregulation rather than helping the brain heal and regulate.
CA sprays the most amount of pesticides out of all 50 states and the CA Central Valley is a dust bowl consisting of pesticides/herbicides, smog, cloud seeding chemicals and loads and loads of pollen from almond orchards that are also infused with pesticides, drifting throughout the state. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the poor air and water quality in CA contributing to the highest rate of autism and more.
Love your content so much! I do want to add though: cosmetics are extremely well regulated, even in the US. There is a lot of fear mongering rn coming from the clean beauty lobby (EWG and brands that want to stand out by demonising others) + strengthened by far right conspirituality voices. So much misinformation is being shared about "toxins" in skincare. We do not have to be scared about cosmetics, people are so stressed about this already, without any real reason to!
Loved this reminder that the little things really do matter. Your writing makes me feel wiser yet more grounded. Your clear, practical insights help me make better daily choices, too.
Like i said to my father more than a decade ago, the television is one of, if not the worst thing that has happened to humanity.
Not related?
What were you doing each time you were watching the television?
(To make it relative, I literally mean EVERYTHING from blinking with itchy eyes, sneezing air you breathe with its quality/your allergies, eating [processed/bad food] while *sitting* on a couch being drowsy, avoiding sleep, etc).
Exactly.
What *weren't* you doing while [each time] you were last watching television?
Exactly.
I just pictured YOU [who's reading what I am writing right now] carrying a HUGE 1234" screen television hooked to the largest extension cord connected to the outlet you are on your way to get to your phone that's charging at the outlet to repeat bad addictions. Haha.
And were you carrying that tv to or from the car you drove to get fast food you didnt cook on your feet?
I would use a.i. make a Norman Rockwell type pic for ya but you get the idea; gem dropped!
Draw it!
Lord knows I can't... wait... technically, yep... but shouldnt haha :P

Thanks Dr. Dominic!

Thank you Romy! Agree, the goal is not to live in fear, but to be aware and make informed choices.
